EPA lists a Stage 2 disinfection-byproduct violation for this Magnolia Water system in 2022, when total trihalomethanes measured 0.086 mg/L against the federal limit of 0.080. It was resolved that year. Disinfection byproducts form when chlorine reacts with organic material in the water. Its operator, Magnolia Water, is under a Louisiana Public Service Commission investigative audit of its billing and service practices, due February 2027.

What this means at your house
Your water arrives with chlorine in it, at 1.4 parts per million. That is the disinfectant the Cherrywood system uses, and it is the taste people notice in coffee, in ice, and in the first glass of the day.
