What owning a system is like
The install takes a day. Here is everything after that.
Install day, before we leave
A licensed plumber sets the equipment, and the water is off for part of that day while the tie-in happens. Before anyone leaves, the system gets flushed and checked for leaks, and you get walked through it: where the bypass is, what the valve display means, and what normal looks like. The bypass matters because it lets you send water around the system in one motion if you ever need to.
What upkeep actually looks like
The whole-home carbon tank cleans itself. The valve backwashes at night on a schedule, so there are no cartridges and nothing monthly. The carbon media inside is replaced after years of service, on a schedule your quote spells out, and we come out and do it.
A softener asks one thing of you: keep salt in the brine tank. It regenerates based on how much water you actually use, so an empty house is not wasting salt while you travel.
Reverse osmosis takes a once-a-year cartridge swap you can do by hand without tools. The membrane itself lasts years longer, and your quote lists when it is due. The tankless version swaps its twin cartridges in seconds.
UV takes one lamp a year, and it changes like a light bulb.
You will not have to remember any of this
We track your service dates and text you when something is due. When a visit is needed, we come out; when it is a cartridge you can swap yourself, the text says so.
Straight answers
If the power goes out, water keeps flowing. The tanks and the RO run on water pressure alone. The valve clock and a UV lamp need power, and both pick back up when it returns.
During a boil advisory, follow the advisory. Filtration is not a substitute for boiling, ours included.
Gone for a few weeks? Nothing needs shutting down. When you get back, run the taps for a few minutes to move fresh water through the house.
An RO unit sends rinse water down the drain as it makes drinking water. That is how the membrane stays clean. The tankless high-efficiency unit is the one to pick if that bothers you.
